I ordered a USB Data Acquisition board from Digikey to use when testing
my HomebrewedGlassPanel. I didn't order the programmable
development/testing board you mentioned, I didn't want to take the time
to learn the language.  So I just ordered a dumb interface board with 20
I/O ports, 14 that can be used A/D.

If I choose to put a custom glass-panel in my project, I think I would
want the control functionality separated as much as possible from the
display-system anyway, so I will not worry about ECU functionality for
now.

While I am waiting to receive my new board, I was wondering if you or
any of your Rotary Engine gang is interested in testing my current
version.  I would be pleasantly surprised if it worked on another
computer, because when I try to run it on my notebook computer also with
Linux; it gives me a "segmentation error" (what ever that is???).
But the good news is that I can run it all over the place on my desktop
computer.  I can copy the program and the associated GIF files to any
directory I wish on my development computer (Ubuntu 10.04) and it funs
just fine. So maybe my notebook computer is at fault.

Testing it would take perhaps 5 minutes of your time.  I know you have
many concurrent projects going, so I understand if you don't want to
mess with it.

All one would need to do is:

(1) Decompress the attached tar-file into a directory for which you have
full access.

(2) Open a terminal window, cd /[directory name]

(3) type:  ./glasspanel

An aircraft glass panel should show up on the computer screen, and most
of the steam-gauges should be animated with data generated by internal
simulation functions. And yes I know ... an altimeter should have 3
indicator needles, and mine will eventually. And of course I could
replace all my steam-gauges with linear-bar-graphs like Garmin, but
somehow that seems like cheating :)
