What happended: The thunderbird inbox exceeded 2 gig new years eve and wrapped around trashing the inbox.

Watch out thunderbird users. I did not know what was wrong. I assumed
the worse and deleted that version of thunderbird. Henry filled me in on
that little tidbit of info later.

I then tried to download another copy of Thunderbird 2 and discovered it
was no longer available. I was running Ubun 9.04 and found out much to
my horrow
Thunderbird 3 would not run on Ubun 9.04. Ubun refused to support TB3 on
Ubun 9.04. That meant I would have to upgrade the OS to at least Ubun
10.04. I went to Fry's to see what I could find and all they had was
Ubun 11.1 so I installed that. I was shocked they changed the 11.1 gui to look like an Android tablet.

Android tablets have horrible file managers and
I sure and heck did not want to go that route with 500 gig of rotary
engine data accummulated for the last 14 years. Android tablets are great if all you are doing is email, pictures, music and videos.
If you are maintaining several hundread thousand files, as I am, forget it.

So I went back to Fedora 13. That is what I am running now.
I am still learning how to use TB3. The other problem was I could not
read my 1 tera byte back up HD in the new OS due to a permissions issue so Henry used Linux chown to fix that. Thank God for Henry. Something that is nearly impossible to do in Windows I suspect. In the mean time I bought a
1 tera byte USB drive and re-installed Ubun 9.04 on another 1 TB hard drive and copied all the back up 9.04 HD data to the USB drive. USB drives, in theory, drives  are OS independent. Watch out for the 3 TB drives however as they are not OS independent. It has to do with the file system used in the various OS's.  That took at least 24 hours to copy the data.

To top it all off Henry and I used 3 days to fix a bug in Earthlink's server system. Hours of phone calls all over the world. Fortunately VOIP. Earthlink's email server and web mail server were not talking to each other properly so the password on web mail and email were not the
same as they should be. Earthlink said thank you but Henry should have billed them a couple of thousand dollars for consulting time.

As you can see I have yet to figure out the TB3 spelling checker.
