Hi Paul, I will happily make a purchase of the bearing type we want.
What I need to verify is the bearing type. The bearing type I
requested
a quote on is to the best of my knowledge the appropriate type
for our
purposes.
Following your prompt in suggesting we use a deep groove conrad type
bearing assembly, I compared the various constructs available form
several manufacturers using their own comparison charts. So it
appears
to me that the deep groove open radial bearing is the best
option for
our needs. The static, dynamic, and thrust loads appear to be well
within our tolerances so long as we can hold the bearing securely in
place.
Please let me know if you believe a different design is better
suited
for the task. I am holding off the salesman for a day or two before
placing an order, at which point, I will likely be waiting a good 6
weeks for delivery.
Here are the general specs being offered for the preferred size 6821
common bearing 105x130x13mm
Hybrid ceramic Open cage deep groove radial for handling
longitudinal loads fore and aft.
440c stainless rings Rockwell C 60 +-2. good to 350F
PTFE cage is the most common for hybrid designs.
Ball number ranges from 27 for 1/4 balls, to 34 for the smaller
balls
Only one company has given me pricing. $58 each unit but
they may
demand 12 units minimum and have requested we send them $220
extra
for courier delivery.
The company is:

Ed Carver, I have been buying my ball bearing from an E-bay seller
called "irvineman". He is located in California. If you search
bearings with the ID x OD x Width in millimeters to find one of his
listings then go to "visit his store" and send a message. In
addition
to his Chinese sourced bearings he also sells the Japanese built
Nachi
bearings. The spindle bearings for my router went out at 1140
hours of
run time and the supply houses wanted $385 apiece for the
bearings. I
bought them from "irvineman" for $6.70 and they are running
fine at
about 290 hours to date. He hasn't charged me for shipping on
the 30 or
so bearings I got so far.
George grimes
Thanks George!
I tried to get Irvine man to quote me on the ceramics, he could not do
it. Same with all of the other bearing vendors on ebay.
Paul, Henry,
Vicky Cheng wants $650 for two shipped to the US. In her quote for two,
she listed the total price incorrectly at $550.
Getting the bearings from Luoyang precision bearing co is probably
better because we will get 12 units for $700 if we have them shipped to
Henry in China.
So the price is 12 vs 2. I'll gladly put up the funds to get the extra
quantity.

Thanks for your prompt reply.
The size of 6821 bearing: 105x130x25mm is the accurate size by
National
Standard.
$58.42 each unit is only the bearing's price. If your engineer confirm
the quantity is 12 pcs, the total shipping cost to your company by
Courier is 210.14 USD. Because the courier is door to door, a little
expensive, but very fast, the bearings can arrive at your company in 7
days. I will give you the normal PI by attachment, you can see each
item clearly.
Please give me your company's name, detail address, telephone and fax
number, so that we can send you the goods correctly.
In addition, If you can sure of this order these two days and arrange
the payment this week, maybe we can finish our producing before
our New
Year Holiday. After arranging the payment, please give me the bank
receipt by this email, so that we can arrange the manufacturing.
Please
attention: 20 days not including our 10 days' New Year Holiday if you
order the bearings late. Really sorry this point.
If you have any question, please tell me freely.
Looking forward to your early reply.
Thanks!

It does not sound like ceramic.
Henry told me to be wary of money up front to companies in China. A
CC payment can always be canceled.
The other suspicious thing is courier delivery. If you have FedX UPS
or DHL you have an independent company verification of shipping.

I didn't get so far as to know which shipper they were using. My
experience has been DHL is the preferred transporter from china. I
verified ceramic balls with 100c2 races. This is the company just
purchased by a Japanese bearing manufacturer to produce large thin
section wheel bearings for hybrid wheel hubs with the motor built in.
They appear to have the standard quality certs. We did not discuss
payment method.
Ed Carver
Good news and bad news. The good news is this verifies our design as
a wheel bearing application at this RPM and load is far more severe
than the load on a prop shaft. Here we are... out on the bleeding
edge again with these guys :) What a relief for me that somebody else
had the same idea.
The bad news is their bearing is a bit too large at 4.134 inches
in diameter ID. I have not got the material back yet but I think our
shaft material is only 4 inches in diameter.
