I just got the new Kitplanes  and read the article on the new 233 engine. Of
note to me was the extensively relieved magnesium ring gear and that they have
an interim service bulletin. Seems it did not stand up to the "beat the crap
out of it" testing. Sounds similar to the flex plate failures on the AC
rotaries. Looks like the big boys miss it today even with the FEA design
software and all the previous experience. New guys seem to feel compelled to
try what was found not to work years ago. Seem to think they have a new idea
that will make it work. Some times they do and some times ...OOPS.
