Paul,
I am new to this group and am at the point of having to decide on an
engine for my build project.  My question is, is there a Mazda
derivative that will compare with or out perform the Rotax 914,
power output (115 hp) and weight (under 200 lbs)?  It will cost me
$35k+ for the 914 fwf. Thanks, Bill McClellan

There is but they are rare. They are basically half of a 2 rotor.
The best so far is from:

Another option would be a p-port single 13B. Use RB Al end housings. Yes I
know they are $1500 each. Two required and one e-shaft. With the PSRU it
should be $10K. Do you agree Paul? That allows $5K each for engine and PSRU.
