Paul,
I think it is true the statement, " people get the government they
deserve", I know it is true here in Australia, we all complain but
do we do anything about it?? here we had re-elected a government on
the promise of the prime minister that said,"there will not be a
carbon tax from the government I lead", what happened a carbon tax!!
$24 a tonne. I think to stop pollution, meanwhile the state of
Queensland exports over 20% of coal exports in the world!! But
probably that pollution will not happen in our world:'( . John Burey.
The carbon hysteria is phony. Some of the scientist involved were caught
lying about it. Co2 is a negative feed back situation. More Co2.. faster
plant and food growth. Faster plant growth... more o2 is emitted.
Therefor there is an optimum level of Co2. IMHO we are way less than
an optimum level. As far as Co2 being toxic to humans we are far far
below that level with Co2 measured in the parts per million. It is
just another attempt by wana-to-be-dictators to gain power.
Yes I know about the coal. We have an expatriate American gentleman
rotor head on here and a friend that is very wealthy and that is
directly involved in exporting Australian coal. He lives in Newcastle
and he told me at one time there were 50 ships anchored off shore
waiting to load.
Don't get me wrong. I am all for clean air such as acids, Hc, smog
and particulates. Co2 is not one of them.

Burt Rutan was among the signers to a WSJ editorial page letter last
week. Spoke to AGW and the bull crap data supporting the theory.
Anthropogenic (man-made) global warming:
Did not speak to the social / behavioral change agenda pushed by
leftists. Look to Paul and Ann Erlich types ( U.C. Stanford I
recall?) who gave us '60s overpopulation doomsday scenario: "The
Population Bomb", '70s global cooling / ice age end of civilization
as we know it, followed by catastrophic global warming, and now
threat of global climate change to keep them in grants, natural
fibers and Starbucks.
Wonder what they have in store for us once the AGW goes sour?
If you ever get the chance to listen to Burt Rutan speak, do it.
On different subject, a while back someone asked what kind of mileage
the Honda CVCC stratefied charge engine got. My brother had one of
the first sold locally, a 1977 Accord. 45-47 mpg during extended highway
driving. Adequate power and plenty of interior room. How far we've come.

A 1970 Mazda 1200 Coupe' could get 41 to 42 MPG US. It was like an R100
with a
1200cc boing boing engine. No stratified charge, EFI and all the other
crap. A
1965 Mustang with 200 cid 6 could get 25 MPG US. are we going ahead or full
throttle in reverse? I know where my vote goes!! World is headed to hell
in a
hand basket. Yes I know I am a cynical Bastard but you have to look at
recent
developments.
Dale Davies
Heck, my 1965 Mustang ragtop with a 289 eight banger can get over 20
mpg.More if I am careful
