Whilst Paul was holidaying I was scrutinising the April Kitplanes for
some sort of placebo, all good. After 5 days (Paul never said howlong,
I never asked) withdrawal had set in to the point where I was even
reading the alternative energy section. This is usually sped read.
Hang on, engine powered cafe racer, O.K. I'm awake. Holy snappin' duck
poo. Check this out www.synergyaircraft.com. This will hopefully blow
u away as it did me. All Americans take note, this is the American
spirit give it your support. or... through the mouth its quicker.

Did anybody glean any facts from that web page? All I saw was hype
 and bluster.

I won't say "It ain't so" but I have yet to see convincing science!

It has been done before and it did not work.
The magazine should research this stuff before they publish BS.

I am a good bit from being an aeronautical engineer but- given the issues
of ground effect and it taking place about a wing span from the ground and
the obvious less than a span distance between the top and bottom wings it
would seem like at some flight regimes some turbulence could be generated
between the wings that would cause excess drag. This, coupled with the
vertical vortices of the ends, it looks to me like it would have more drag
than a single span with winglets. If we look at biplanes, even those like
the Staggerwing, the wings caused more parasitic and induced drag than a
monoplane with similar wing area.

Those that are more advanced than I am, please chime in :)
