This Saturday is general aviation day at Paine Field up here in Everett,
Washington.
Since I'm putting my plane out on display, I'm putting this information
sheet on it
to save myself a lot of answering questions. See attached document.

Brian,
          From memory there was a time that the engine gave you some
grief. What did you do to overcome the grief and get the motor running as it
does now?  Neil.

The big issue was the crank angle sensor wiring- I had the polarity on the 360 deree
sensor reversed. My engine was a JDM engine that had been in a front end collision,
two things were damaged on it- it had a hole in the front housing, and the CAS
connector was broken. When I wired it, since the connector was gone, I had no way of
knowing the polarity of the CAS and took a WAG(wild ass guess). So, at anything over
take off rpm I'd get horrible backfiring. It only seemed to happen starting about 100
fett off the ground. Another  smaller issue was that I needed the latest update for
my EC2's fuel MAP. Now the engine runs smoothly.

Typically the CAS signal goes through a capacitor and is then rectified.
So the wave shape varies with the polarity and design of the circuit it is fed into.
Here are some possible examples.

Tracy's computer either looks for a rising edge or a falling edge.
I suspect a rising edge. The width of the pulse will change with RPM.
So you want to look for a leading rising edge for accurate timing.
In other words a positive going pulse. A negative going pulse has a rising edge as
well but it is the second edge and the exact position of that  varies with RPM.
