A two  rotor engine fires every 180* which is the same as a 4 banger. Thus
for
racing it is standard to multiply the Mazda specified displacement by  two
as
the 4 banger has to go around 2 times to get the displacement of  firing on
all
4 cylinders one time each. The three rotor is like a 6  cylinder.

When installing an electric tachometer in a Mazda 2 rotor rotary car you
set the tachometer cylinder count selector to 4 cylinder to get the  correct
RPM count.
