   Here is that chain email I got the other day.  Haven't verified the truth
   of it, but .....

   This is legit. It can be confirmed at *https://www.iardc.org/* (Illinois
   Attorney Registration And Disciplinary Committee). It's the official arm
  of
   lawyer discipline in Illinois, and they are very strict and mean as hell.
   (Talk about irony.) Even I, at the advanced age of almost 65, maintain my
   law license (at the cost of approximately $600/year) that I worked so
 hard
   and long to earn.

   Former Constitutional Law Lecturer and U.S. President Makes Up
   Constitutional Quotes During State Of The Union (SOTU) Address.

   Consider this:

   1. *President **Barack Obama, former editor of the Harvard Law Review, is
   no longer a "lawyer." He surrendered his license back in 2008 in order to
   escape charges he lied on his bar application. *A "Voluntary Surrender"
 is
   not something where you decide, "Gee, a license is not really something I
   need anymore, is it?" and forget to renew your license. No, a "Voluntary
   Surrender" is something you do when you've been accused of something, and
   you "voluntarily surrender" your license five seconds before the state
   suspends you.

   2 *Michelle Obama "voluntarily surrendered" her law license in 1993 after
  a
   federal judge gave her the choice between surrendering her license or
   standing trial for insurance fraud.*

   3. So, we have the first black President and First Lady - who don't

   "We find unity in our incredible diversity, drawing on the promise
   enshrined in our Constitution: the notion that we are all created equal."

   10. Wrong citing, wrong founding document. The promises are not a
  "notion."
   Our founders named them "unalienable rights." The document is our
   Declaration of Independence, and it reads:

   "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal,
   that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights,
   that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

   11. And this is the same guy who lectured the Supreme Court moments later
   in the same speech?

  Speaking on the subject of lawyers, and not on Obama... (the content
  of that email being virtually impossible to prove or disprove)

   I'm of the opinion that all the lawyers on Capitol Hill are a huge
  part of our problem.  I'd much rather have a congress and oval office
  full of average joes with some common sense and basic intelligence
  than the band of lawyers turned career politicians that dominate it
  these days.  Let the supreme court deal with the lawyering.  What we
  need are people making the laws that understand what the country needs
  and what the intent of the constitution, not people who dissect the
  'interstate commerce' clause to the point where mean the Feds can
  create laws about everything imaginable.

  Establish term limits for the Senate at minimum. George Mason "nothing
  is so essential to the preservation of a Republican government as a
  periodic rotation." If not that, bring back State elected Senators.
  That would at least remove one body of them from the influence of
  popular vote (the mob).  Cap their salary at the mean of the middle
  class, and forget about full pay and benefits for the rest of their
  lives.  "Serving" our country in a political capacity should be just
  that... a service.  It should not carry these plush rewards.  If we
  could do these things, we'd virtually eliminate career politicians and
  a lot of corruption.

 I'm with you Josh.  Here's my solution but would take Consti Amend and it
 would never pass.  Can't vote till 35 yrs old.  One 6 year staggered term
 limit for Senators.  One 4 year term limit for Congressmen staggered
 (unless you only have one Congressman like Wyo) .  If the can get
 reelected, (ie two term limits), you still have the same problem--actions
 determined by reelection campaigns even if only once.  Have to take and
 pass test on government organizaton and brief test on NON-KEYNESIAN
 economics in order to vote (you could still vote Voodoo econ if you choose.
 But, have to understand REAL ECON).  We don't need more idiots running the
 show. Finally, some foolproof voter id (fingerprints??  Big Brother has all
 of ours by now anyway for one reason or another) that is only given when
 you meet all above requirements.  This will cut down on voter fraud.

 All that should be easy to get passed, right:-)

Joel,

You're right about the B.S  in the chain mail. There's one going around
about Target that's BS.  But, there is no grantee FactCheck is anymore
accurate or unbiased than Snopes.  And, the article in your link is not
persuasive.  The email doesn't claim there were ever any PUBLIC
DISCIPLINARY PROCEEDINGS (as per Grogan).  It says that Obama voluntarily
became inactive IN ORDER TO AVOID SUCH PUBLIC DISCIPLINARY PROCEEDINGS
ABOUT HIS BAR EXAM.  Same for Michelle.  She voluntarily became inactive IN
ORDER TO AVOID PUBLIC ETHICS PROCEEDING by the Judge for Insurance fraud.
So, Grogan can say there were no PUBLIC PROCEEDINGS against them.  That's
true.  There would be no record of any disciplinary proceedings.  So, he
can claim they did nothing wrong.  But, who knows if they did or not.  They
probably could have sought to reactivate their licenses based on Illinois
law.  But, if the claims are true, had they sought to become ACTIVE, the
Judge could have proceeded with PUBLIC CHARGES against Michelle and the Bar
could have done the same against Obama for cheating.  Its like resigning in
order to avoid being fired with public notoriety for stealing from the
office.
You can always claim there were no PROCEEDINGS AGAINST YOU and you can
claim you didn't do anything wrong.  You just resigned.  But, that doesn't
mean its true.

So, it could be all BS.  But, nothing I've seen convinces me it is all BS.
Doesn't matter much.  We all know what he is:-)
