The NO (Nitrous Oxide) was 3 at 25 MPH. Average for all cars is 15. The allowed was
437. That means Mazda missed a MPG opportunity at 25 MPH. My guess a 5% penalty in
around town MPG. When you lean any engine at low power the BSFC gets better and the
NO goes up. In aircraft we can run something like 18:1 air fuel ratio.

Mazda was probably running the RX8 engine at stoichiometric (14.7:1). In my Honda
Odyssey the NO is much higher and I know from OBDII data Honda leans the engine at
low power. The OBDII data on the Mazda RX8 is always stoich unless it is full
throttle accel and then it is richer.

The hydrocarbons was 9 at 25 MPH and the allowed is 39 despite my putting 1/2 ounce
per gallon of 2 cycle oil in the fuel to better lube and cool the apex seals.
