 Paul,

 Can you or somebody on line tell me if anybody  does rotor housing exchange
 or if it
 is possible to re machine rotor  housings?
 I need to acquire two 13B housings as mine are unserviceable.  Good ones
 are becoming
 vary rare here in West Australia.

 I hear rumors to that effect  but I don't have any info or experience with
 reman rotor
 housings. My guess  it is not easy to do. I would think it necessary to
 un-plate the
 scared or  pitted chrome and use an NC mill to clean up the steel liners
 and  then
 re-plate the porous chrome  surface.

 Nothing was said about re chroming. for $125 I can't imagine they could afford to
 re-chrome. With out the porous chrome the life is in doubt.

 BTW porous chrome is an old idea that was used on naval radial aircraft engines in WW
 II. It has also been used on Lyc and Cont flat AC engines.

 Not sure if these guys had been mentioned.  They won't tell you how they
 do it but the price ($99/rotor) , last I heard, probably was worth
 taking the plunge.

 Don't use after market seals with these rotor housing. Steel on steel is a no no.

We haven't done any work on the engine now for a few years.
The airframe is nearly finished. We are hoping to remount the engine very early in
the new year, wire her up and begin testing.
Main outstanding engine requirements is the building of the intake ducts to water and
Oil exchangers.
We are copying tracy's RV8 water exchanger setup. (vertical - cool side fed from
right cheek)

My collected data in regards Water Exchanger sizing from those flying are as follows:
Tracy 		RV8 20b		540ci 2/3 equivalent 13b of 360ci
Ian Beadle 	RV7 Renesis	374ci
Dave Leonard	RV6	13b turbo	425ci

I think these figures are accurate and they are all cooling OK.
Our Water Exchanger is 500ci so should with an effective duct be adequate for the job.

As the diffusers are improving the ci number is coming down.

Ian did a particularly good job on the diffusers but he was not looking for much HP.
My guess is 160 HP. Ian does not concern himself too much with cosmetics :)
but he flies all over the outback. Here are some pictures.
As near as I can tell it is V shaped with two cores under the engine.
It is not a simple wedge. It is a Kay's & London theoretically perfect S shape. You
can see that in one of the pictures.

Tracy did a good cooling job with his 3 rotor RV8.
