The water manometer in the cockpit was used to trouble shoot the Rotec
low pressure slide throttle carb. The Rotec is a copy of the Ellison.
The end housing are two piece with an aluminium water jacket and cast iron
wear surfaces.
Richard is experimenting with light weight rotors that weigh 2.5 pounds less
than stock and that have no oil seals.
There will be a movie shortly so you can hear what a one rotor sounds like.

The trouble shooting on the carb was successful. This basically Ellison carb
is using the pressure regulator Ellison described in his Patent and never
used. This pressure regulator is using a reference pressure, which is
relative to the spray bar pressure. I did not get a good answer from the guy
at ROTEC on how to find the right location for a pressure pickup. So I had
to calculate the pressure at the spray bar and find a point in the intake
where the pressure is some mm H2O above that pressure at a certain
condition, say 5000 RPM WOT. The water manometer showed me where I was, and
from there is was relatively easy to find a good place. I did the first run
Yesterday and it looks like it is right on the spot.
I also fixed the earlier reported problem with loosing oil through the crank
case breather. With the exhaust gas re-circulation holes in the rotor housing
closed, there is no more of anything coming out of the breather hose.
Getting closer to flying.
