The ducted fan part never would have worked worth a damn :).

I like the simplicity of the idea of using the turbine output directly to
drive a fan--it might be less aerodynamically efficient than reclaiming the
energy and adding it to the main prop (with its larger disk/lower disk
loading), but it has the advantages of using the air as a "slip medium"
rather than using some sort of transmission. The sketches of your "Delta"
are interesting, but doing things that way forces us to the ducted fan
arrangement for the main engine output, which will cost in efficiency as
compared to a regular ol' prop.
Also, passing all the output from the "main
engine" fan through the turbine-driven fan will exacerbate the "for granted"
inefficiencies in the speed and pitch of the blades in that rear turbine-
driven fan. Maybe a separate small "fan thrust pod" under the belly turned
directly by the turbine in the exhaust and totally separate from the main
engine and prop. Downstream of the fan face, capture the dynamic pressure
of a small portion of the air in order to turbocharge the engine's induction
air.
For the the rest of the fan's output, take Mike Lilja's idea and line
the inner surface of the duct to act as a "surface radiator" (or maybe small
fins on the inside, aligned with the flow) for the hot engine oil (water
coolant, too?), thereby recovering heat energy into the exhaust stream (and
a bit of thrust). Surface radiators don't have a good reputation, but here
we're talking about a small area of maybe 300+ knot airfow, so the tubes
would be compact and the air available for heat transfer would be very
plentiful.
Anyway, it's an idea.

It was an attempt to use every last waste calorie in the fuel
including the engine cooling waste heat to expanded the air in the duct.
Unfortunately, as you pointed out, the inefficiency of the ducted fan
negated most of it.
