engine pictures.

Nice work on the motor plate.

The front motor mounts are going along for a ride :)
The rear motor mounts are taking 90% of the load.
That is because the CG of engine,GB and prop combo is just
about inline with the rear motor mounts.

You only need three. "A structure will be statically indeterminate
whenever it is held by more supports than are required to maintain
its equilibrium."

In mechanical engineering it is called redundant constraint. Google it :)

The front rubber bushing can be real small as the load on it is near zero.

Please try just attaching those pictures to your email Frank.
Don't ship them off to some web site.
Many emails add's do not accept zip files.

How much redrive weight was saved with the Swiss Cheese technique Frank?
Chris Cosman

Chris,
I don't know how much was saved on the re-drive; but
if you'll look close you will find that was done all over
the engine as well as the entire airplane. This in
conjunction with aerodynamic streamlining will give
me the fastest aircraft possible.
Frank

You need to streamline the intake runners :)

Paul Lamar

Paul,
Lets see if this is what you are
talking about.
Frank

That worked. That is the best way to send us pictures.

Frank,
Beautiful mount on the intake/exhaust side.............
What does the mount look like on
the sparkplug side ?...........
Or have I missed it in previous photos.............

Kelly Troyer

Kelly,
It's almost an exact reversal of the one you saw.
Those pic's will be coming soon. I have been
working to resolve sending pic's. I think I may
have gotten it down; we will see. The new pic's
will show the runners mock-up as well as the
exhaust mock-up and the air-oil separator.
Now Paul, not everybody needs 250 H.P., so that's
why I stayed with the side-ports for now. I am not
tearing the engine apart to p-port them. If you remember
I said I had two other engines; in addition to other
improvements, I will p-port them.
