How do you get Rhino 4 to draw a tube from 3D point to
3D point,
3 does that fine.
Mine wants to put it on an orthogonal axis with a length.

Other than this problem which I am sure will be solved I am
extremely pleased to say the least with Rhino 4.
It can do these very large size renderings lickety split :)
Note the wonderful detail.

I case all you other people have not yet noticed, that rendering
was 3200 by 2400 pixels.
Here is another one of a cut tube end. No screen big enough so
far to see it in all it's full size glory. Big pixel monitors almost this size
are just now coming on the market but sell for well over $1000.

Paul, Have you noticed that you don't have to create a bunch of construction
planes normal to where you need to draw as in CATIA and it's derivative
Solid Works and store the data in 3 separate files? As an alternative to
the fine method you were shown I also use a completely different approach
some times. Draw a line point to point. offset the line to the radius of
the od of the tube and offset the od back by the wall thickness. use
poly-line (the left click on the line command) to the four endpoints of the
two offset lines. turn this into a surface and revolve that the default 360
degrees.
This is more complicated than the above method but has the advantage that it
can work on tapered tube sections or put reinforcing sleeves around the ends
of the tube. Once the cross section is created you can copy it to anywhere
you need the same size and wall thickness and trim or extrude for the length
you need. Another way is just draw the two circles, do surface from planer
curves and extrude the surface to something longer than you need. Draw a
line point to point for the tube center line and then do curve/extend by line
on one end. copy the tube using center object snap to one end. then do
rotate 3D to put it in line with the location in 3D space. The rotation
would be centered on the first end point and use center snap on the tube to
near point on the line.
Then there is the sweep along rail or two rails or the extrude along curve
methods if you are not doing a straight tube such as a rollover hoop for a
headrest or windshield frame. You might want to learn the wire cut and
slice commands to cut something in two without deleting the cutoff as with
trim. Just a tip, but if you get a twisted surface with the loft command
even after changing the default ten control points to 100 points go to
edit/rebuild curve where you can up the degree of the NURBS curve and add
nodes to the curve. Both these changes up the drawing data file size but I
have 4.5 TB on a 3.4Ghz quad core AMD and liquid cooling system, 8GB of RAM
and a video card with 120 processors and 2GB of ram.
I no longer worry about file size or time to render a drawing. If you get
windows out of memory messages boost the size of the windows partition and
increase virtual ram to 20GB.
Yesterday I drew some eliptical wing tips fro the canard and the transition
from a NLF(1)-215f wing to a Clark YSm winglet with a 90 degree curve and
different spar sweeps and different angles of attack on all three pieces in
35 minutes. These parts are to be glass on core cell foam but could have
had corregated spars like the wings in another 30 minutes. I really like
Rhino4.
I changed monitors and am wondering if my line width is too many characters
and if so how do I change it in win7.

I am still learning about the changes in Rhino 4. There are lots of
improvements.
About your new monitor. Orient it vertically and all sorts of good things
happen :)
Yes your line length is too long for the newsletter. I have to load
it into a WordStar clone and reformat it. 80 is about right.

Setting line widths in your email program depends of the the email
program brand. I only know about Thunderbird because I have been using it
for 15 years.
