Paul,

Am seeking an EDM shop to bore out the 6 pinion, pinion shafts.

Finally located a FDM in Kent, WA.

What does it cost to have this done?

Is this the preferred method?

Do we bore them out at precisely 8 mm?

How do we treat the remaining pieces of the cross pins?

Just a tad over size so an AN 5/16 bolt will go in the hole.
Give an AN bolt to the EDM shop and explain what you are trying
to do.

I paid about $150 here in Ventura.

Don't use a metric bolt as there is no guarantee on
the diameter tolerances. The AN bolt has diameter tol specs.
You can also get MS bolts with tighter tolerances.
Van's sells them for bolting spars to carry through plates.

Make sure they dump it into a bucket of oil after
the holes are EDM'ed  as it will otherwise rust in seconds.

The idea here is to retain the surface hardness and finish of
the original pinion shafts.

Throw the left over parts away :)
