Hi Paul,

The plasma ignition from Combined Technology Solutions is the only one I know that offers long life expectancy for the
electrodes.
The advantage over capacitive discharge or traditional spark ignition is that it is capable of extreme lean burn (AFR=70
or so) and hence have a cool combustion with virtually no NOx.
The technology was originally developped at MIT.
They have a Cadillac CTS equipped with a 2 liter engine that is more powerful than stock engine and it runs at 65 MPG on
motorway speeds.
Their website is outdated but if you happen to be around in Maryland you should go and see Joe Anderson, a friend of mine and CEO of the company.

That is a bit far fetched. If they loan me the Cadillac for a week
and it gets 65 MPG on the freeway I will believe it. Other wise it goes in the 100 MPG carburetor folder :)

A .01 BSFC improvement is a major breakthrough in the REAL world.

Those sort of wild claims are immediately dismissed by an qualified automotive engineer.
