We all understand that the rules as per Rolex and Nascar  are
designed to
provide tight racing in the hope any entrant "may" win.  The
method the water
melons use is not racing as I see it also. The  least expensive
and effective
way to equalize the cars and reduce the  expenses is to dictate a
spec tire
with a "street" compound. A harder  tire limits traction which
limits the
advantage of a team spending  millions more than everyone else.
Another
advantage is that the tires  wear slower and leave smaller
particles on the
surface. You do not end  up with "marbles" on the side of the
racing line. You
have a dust of  rubber that can be blown away by pushing your
driven path over
a bit  for a couple of laps. Then you can get on the throttle and
pass.  This
makes for more exciting racing with reduced cost. Watching club
racing is
many times more exciting than watching F1 or Nascar. The  runoffs
is the top
of this!

The Rolex cars run on Continental specification "race tires". All one
compound.  Manufactured by Hoosier.
The tires are sold to the competitors and represent a very large expense.
