new to the group. Shopping for an airframe to build. could i have
your thoughts on a fire wall forward weight, non-adjustable wood
prop, 2 rotor engine, 160hp tractor.

The firewall forward weight is about the same as an Lyc O 360. It is
actually cheaper and easier to build a p-port and you get 250 HP at
sea level and 175 HP at 12,000 feet.
If you started with 160 HP at sea level you would only have 112 HP at
12,000 feet.
The pre punched VANs RV's are the quickest and easiest to build.
If you want a fast, slick composite take a look at Team Tango. They
come out of a mold and the wing is one piece. May be quicker to build
than an RV. With 175 HP at 12,000 feet you are looking at close to
250 MPH ground speed. We have several rotaries being installed in
Tango's.

I've been working on a plans-built Bearhawk Patrol, "a SuperCub on
Steriods", for the past couple of years. A Lycoming 360 is the most
popular power for the Patrol.

My project is on slow while I practice my welding skills. I have the
fuselage material, partially framed/tacked, but have been away
from it
all winter. I am building in an unheated shop in extreme northern
Wisconsin, so if it ever quits snowing and warms up I hope to be
getting
back to it soon.
However, I am getting a bit impatient, and I have a friend who
wants to
do some trading for a completely welded fuselage. I would be
willing to
part with my Patrol Fuselage-Project.
I have a bunch of photos available, as well as a mostly complete
material list of 4130 tubing and parts included with the fuselage
project.

$3,000 for everything. Several have flown with rotary power.
