One thing we liked was the location of starter, it ran aft just under
the spark plugs moving the engine CG aft. We may cut up a RX7 AT
bellhousing to accommodate such an arrangement. Milo

That is one of the reasons I want to use the 20B/13B rew tt AT bell
housings for a CS prop unit. The geared stock AT starter gives more
oomph and is mounted much more professionally back along the lower side
of the engine. I have one if you want to make me one.....! Now making a
mm to match up somewhere is another challenge....

We wondered how that starter fitted? Thanks for the picture. Right now
we are up to our ass in alligators just getting the 3.17 box done. Made
a big mistake yesterday and had to shitcan about $100 worth of material
and 20 hours of labor. We will keep everyone posted as to our progress. Milo

MM brackets picking up longer bellhousing flange bolts is the
plan.------nothing concrete yet for this one?

Why don't you use Jeff's plate? We spent about fifteen years developing
that motor mount. It has even been crash tested in a BD4. The universal
motor mount is built around it. You are reinventing the wheel :)

I suppose we could fit that mm plate between the Mazda AT housing and
the engine but that would interfere with the AT starter mounting. All
that is needed is a couple of the cup legs picking up from opposite side
mm bolts. I am still waiting for a good CS hydraulic psru.......needed
to mount a composite hyd prop on it.

We have been all over sand casting a bell housing with motor mounts
built in years ago. It winds up too heavy due to sand casting
limitations. I think you were on the list at the time.
You don't need a bell housing for a constant speed prop PSRU.
Milo could mount his on Jeff's plate.
You could also machine a half inch off the back side of the
bell and tig weld it to Jeff's plate with the starter mounted
forward of the flex plate.
That auto tranny side mount starter is relatively rare and more
expensive used or new. However a plate could be machined to fit it.
