You might be interested in this Russell.


The High Voltage, low cost power supply is done and working well.
I have shined a flashlight on the scope controls so you can read the pulse rate and frequency. In any case it is adjustable with the pots shown. There is a high voltage probe on the upper trace with several hundred volts shown. The voltage out varies with pulse width and frequency.

This works down to 7 volts input.

Robert Leclercq has helped me greatly with his twenty years of switching power supply engineering experience. I could not have done it without him.
This stuff is REAL tricky:)

He is also working on a unique design of ignition system for the rotary.
We will be testing both on the highway with the RX8 and OBD II and on the 3 rotor turbo compound engine on the dyno.

I built a low cost HV non regulated supply based on this transformer and it worked.

8 to 18 volts input 300 to 350 volts output and with a 6K load. About 20 watts out.
I suspect I am really pushing this transformer too hard.

I am a real novice at designing switching supplies so I was rather pleased and surprised it worked.  It worked for about a week and then failed. I bought more and will continue to develop this supply.

I then downloaded the Wurth switching supply software but I was disappointed that this transformer was not in the data base.
