What's the status of the turbocompound engine? Have you run it?

I am still building but nearly done. The amount of oil and pressure
required by the TC gear box is a big unknown. I am having trouble
finding info on that.

The parts man at Big T came up with an oil feed line to the TC GB.
Cost all of $20 so I ordered one. I cut it in half and sweat
soldered a modified AN -6 hose fitting to it. I plan on sharing the
oil supply with the 3 rotor. Typically the Mazda engine's oil
pressure is much higher than piston engines so I am hoping it works.

I am awaiting AN-6 oil and AN-10 pressure tap fittings to install 2
oil pressure gages. One for the main engine and one for the Turbo
Compound Gear Box. I don't want to destroy a $3000 DD15 TC system.

This stuff takes time as you have to see what idea works as you go
along with the occasional "That won't work" :) In the mean time,
while I wait for TC parts, I am working on a 12V input 400 volt
output HV supply for modular CD ignition systems. The 13B powered RV4
uses a Holley 2 bar 500 CFM carb so the old LS1 coils will not work.

The 3 rotor TC test engine is using a 110 V AC in wall powered HV
supply for the CD modules. Six plugs in all. That is working fine on
the bench. I have lots of confidence that will work on the engine.

I need to figure out how to clone myself so I have a non paid
competent assistant. :)

Paul,

What about an oil temp indicator on the return line from the TC
gearbox? It would give you a good measurement of whether it needs
more/less oil feed...

Good idea Roger. One of the functions of the oil is to cool the
bearing. The turbine needs a cool bearing as there is a lot of heat
transferred from the spool.
