Chris Hoskins invented this power steering device for Canard
nose gear here in NZ. It will work on any nose gear airplane
including you Tango guys. It does an excellent job of damping
in the bargain. In fact a tail dragger would benefit as well.
I am thinking about building one for my RV4. The tail wheel
would be locked straight ahead for landing and then could be
steered back to the hanger. IMHO this is a major development.

Chris is also building his own Ford C6 based six pinion planetary
gear box for his p-ported RX8 engine.
He is using the Ellison copy Rotec carb from OZ.

Paul, if you want hydraulic steering there are several
manufacturers making a sweep cylinder like that. Parker and SMC come to
mind.

More info. This will work with a simple oil pump made
from extruded pinion wire and a 12 V DC gear motor.
A DPDT steering switch will reverse the direction on the oil pump to
steer left or right.
Klaus told me this is very desirable feature for canard's as one can
exit the runway
on the high speed turn offs at high speed :) No need to steer with the
brakes.

The nose gear was both mechanical steer-able and retractable.

BTW Allan Tolle beat Pushy Galore in the dead stop time to climb to 3000
feet with
a 350 HP p-port 13B in an RV3 at Sun & Fun. 59 seconds.
