Apparently nearly out. All we need now is a fuel totaliser. Neil.
It seems to support the 13B. Does it support manual mixture
leaning?
Mark LaPierre
Mark, There is no manual Knob as such to richen or lean, but
automatically richens the mix by water temp, so cold start is
apparently catered for, then leans out as temps rise. They recommend
a thermostat in this regard. Reads water temp, MAP, RPM. incoming
air temp and computes the rest. I think is has sequential ignition
as well. Not sure but apparently there is an automatic leaning curve
when the motor runs at a set rpm for a set period or longer. So at
this stage, I don't know but am finding out. Would really miss being
able to add up fuel used , so talking to them to find out. Neil.
Have a look at the reports of how the P-51 Mustang pilots had to
manually
control air-fuel mix lean grade, ignition advance, and throttle
opening to
get the top power for take-off, the best economy for cruising, a
decent temperature
range inside the engine in order not to burnt it, and also adapt
all this to
the height of flight, the weather, and the combat conditions.
A mistake in handling all this would have put the aircraft in
short of fuel,
and unable to reach its targets, or to return home, or both.
Not even Einstein would have managed to solve these devilish
equations.
All of this is done today by the car's ECU, and most common street
cars have more
electronic sensors and computing power than the rocket that took
Armstrong,
Collins and Aldrin to the Moon.
Thanks for your attention. Have a good week. Best regards. Salut †
