I just finished the design of my dual stepper motor coil winder PCB.
It occurred to me it could be the basis of a low cost auto pilot.
Ailerons and elevator. The Mikroe $40 Mini MO has 5 analog to digital
ports for atmospheric pressure sensor and low cost solid state
gyros.
Even cell phones have solid state gyros sort of:)
It even has a black box option recording altitude and heading using
this free Windows terminal program and a PC or tablet for recording
the data.

All you need to do is learn to program in BASIC.

IMHO I use the Teensy 3.1 at $17 from OSH Park Programmed in
Coridium BASIC Free 72 MHz 256K Flash 64K RAM 21 Analog pins 16
Bit 34 Digital pins 12 Timers SPI I2C CAN

Much of what we do will be compatible with that.
The Mini M4 available from Mouser is a bit more powerful than the
Mini MO with 4 more I/O pins. Same maker. I am switching to that.
Largely pin compatible with the MO.
I was under impression that the Coridium boot loader was not
finished.
How well is it working?
I like the 40 pin dip form factor as it works with any 40 pin
socket.
There has been an explosion in the availability of these controller
chips. All others are dead. No more 16 bit chips.

The Mikroe ARM is a lot more powerful than the Arduino Mega and it is
easier to program. The ARM uses BASIC and the Arduino modified C IMHO
C is needlessly cryptic.
We are talking full size airplanes here. Although some of this model
airplane stuff could be adapted.

(flight)taktical computer.
Found the DIYdrone stuff usefull for doing my airwork ;-)
