Hi!: I'd say only porous chrome plating would fit the inner housing
surface, if the surface is 100% flat under the microscope, oil film
won't attach to it, and lubrication won't exist, some irregularity
is needed, you can find some about this in the attached patents, and
also in SAE papers 741043; 741047; 920931, and 2008-01-1050. The
book by T Suzuki: 'The romance of engines' published by SAE,
addresses this issue, among some very interesting others. NSU and
Citroen Wankel RCEs used Nickasil for the working surface coating,
it's used today by several motorcycle and car engine producers Hope

Thanks Jose. I have attached the Ford done in 1976. Too much to
publish them all.

Since Mazda  has sold 2.5 million rotary engines it is best to stick
with what works :)

Is this what you are looking for? Attached are pics of the housings
we did and have been in use for approx 7 years. Used in a dd to
commute 50+ miles per day. It's the same shot getting progressively
brighter.

How thick is it?

How much did you have to grind off to get rid of the scratches and
cracks?

Do you have nay pictures of what it looked like before the
re-chrome?

Why does it have a dull look?

It does not look like chrome Mazda housings.

What do you charge to re-chrome a set of rotor housings?

It's oem thickness for chrome. Sorry no before pics, it's a 76 cosmo
housing Actually the dull look is like Mazda's, this might be a bit
more on the dull side but that is the general idea for trapping bits
of oil for break-in. We can tweak that any amount. No pricing yet as
testing is ongoing and we are finalizing out set-up now for
production runs. Can't say much more as it is proprietary processes.

How thick is OEM thickness?

I have a dozen rotor housings. Used and new. None are that dull?

Looks like a good candidate for what we are capable of thus far. Later
we will look into repairs once this is off the ground. Getting CMM files
sorted now for the various series
