Paul,

I have been looking at ways to keep the stock 2ndgen CAS for future
modifications like ignition system upgrade.

At present Tracy set up the EC-4 to use the RX-8 trigger wheel.  The
2^nd gen CAS unit hits the V belt and augmenter tube.

I even tried to cut the housing down and perhaps design a low profile
cover so the belt would clear and the augmenter would clear.  I think
the only way that will happen is if I eliminate the hall sensor for the
2 tooth wheel and keep the lower wheel.  At least I would have a source
for your tach circuit.  Using the fly wheel would put the frequency way
out of the range of the tach circuit.

Here is my new trigger wheel. I am getting it ready for a Lamar ignition
demo at Sun N Fun in 2 weeks.
I will also work with the RX8 CAS. Fires at 20 deg BTC and 4 or 5 times
after that
every 10 degrees of e-shaft rotation.

Paul,

That looks good and I will keep that in mind once I get the engine fired and
checked out but there is a long way to go.  I am looking at ways to modify
the CAS so it can accommodate all of the previously mentioned issues.  I
noticed that the sensors within the CAS are similar but mounted at different
"levels" in order to "see" the tooth wheels that are stacked upon each
other.  Can I relocate the 2 tooth sensor to a different location along the
"bolt circle" that defines the sensor positions around the wheels? I would
have to make a different mark in the housing (drive gear end) as there seems
to be a mark on the gear and one on the housing to line up prior to
inserting into the timing cover and engage the E shaft gear.  I assume the 2
tooth set up is for E shaft position.  How close to each other can the
sensors be located?  I guess I could re-locate the upper sensor and connect
it to a scope spin the unit and look at the outputs.  Once I can verify that
they can operate I can build a carbon fiber cover that clears all of the
other components.  Thanks for any input.

I don't think the 2nd gen CAS will work with out a computer.
Both levels are used by the software.

My ignition will work with out a computer.
