I have basic question .
I am interested in limited hp of 100 - 120.
Could I use the 2 rotor engine 13b genesis.
How would that be better than the 22-2300 cc vw ( 110 -110 hp )air cooled engine in terms of weight to power ratio.

Why do you want to limit a two rotor  to 100 HP?
You don't have to use it.  Most aircraft designers don't like more HP
because they equate it to a larger and heavier engine.

It will have a lousy power to weight ratio if you limit the 2 rotor rotary to 100 HP.

A 100 HP air cooled VW is very unreliable.
You will be doing valve jobs all the time.
The original VW was 36 HP.

Not to mention possible catastrophic failure of the valves.

Is there a law in the UK limiting experimental aircraft engines to 100 HP?

I want to use the rotary engine for a two place Gyroplane. For that reason I only need an engine to produce 100 -120 hp.
That is my thinking behind the question. Please be patient with me. I want to get the basics right before I start the practical project.

Sure is I have my Gyro here in Aus not finished but well on the way, I'm using an RX8 engine in it.
No such thing as having too much HP if the engine can produce it reliably which a Rotary can.
