Good mechanical fit, sofar.

Need suggestion on connecting the sun gear to the engine using the automatic trans mission bell housing.

Need the followings parts;

Needle bearing that goes into the Eshaft to support the transmission input shaft.

Manual transmission input shaft.

Manual transmission clutch disk.

If you have such animals please let me know.

Looking good Milo.

The best way to attach a shaft to a flange or a gear is use extended point set screws.
Much cheaper and better than a spline as it controls thrust as well as torque.
It is a historical breakthrough.

It takes 1674 pounds to shear 1 1/4-28  extended point screw given
100,000 psi material.

If you have 12 on a .5 inch radius that is about 10,000 pounds inch pounds.

That is 800 foot pounds. The rotary puts out 200 foot pounds max so that is a safety factor of 4. I used this idea on my 3 rotor turbo compound engine to attach the turbine shaft to the e-shaft. Works like a charm.

No spline slop or back lash. When you tighten the set screws it locks the gear to the shaft. Use modified socket head screws and safety wire them if you wish.

You have room to double the number of screws if you want to be REAL conservative.

Tracy used one 3/8 th pin and Dave Leonard sheared that off with his turbo engine.

I use this chuck mounted on a rotary table (mounted on a 90 degree
plate) to properly locate  these holes. Real handy. My next door neighbor just borrowed it to put some small drain holes in an old Ranger AC engine pistons.

You don't need the needle bearing in the e-shaft as there is no motion with the GB input shaft. Just a pilot bushing.

Paul.
We plan on installing a pilot bearing for the front end of the shaft(crankshaft) to stabilize the sun gear. It will see @6000 rpm difference between the prop rpm(3000) and the sun gear rpm (9000).

Hey gang we need those parts bad, especially the transmission input shaft + an Eshaft  balance weight. Chance to get a few bucks for your used parts!.

Milo

In theory you don't need it.
Planetary are self centering due to the natural separating force between the gears.
If the clearance is too tight between the shaft and the bearing it could
be counter productive. That is why the ring and sun gear is
mounted on a flex bulkhead as in the PT6 GB. Both the sun and the ring
will self center around the prop shaft and the planet carrier.
