Hi Paul,
You made my day, I was just looking at my emails and saw yours, you'er
a funny man I like that,
I do have many questions, so I hope you don't mind giving me some answers.
I'm a long time scratch builder with a background in machining, and
the last 30 years electrical, let's just say that if I can take it apart
as i did with all my toys and improve on them or come up with something
new well it was worth my time, I can also work with cad.
I am in the very beginning of building my first full aircraft, built
many models in the past all the way to 1/2 scale.
This will be a new design aircraft base on the Velocity and Beechcraft
Starship, so I want it to be a canard, my mission is strictly long
distance, more in the range of 1500nm or more.
But my engine of choice has been the Mazda 20B, I am lucky enough to
have a friend who ships them back here to California on a regular basis,
so I was able to get 2, since I am designing a twin.
One question I have from you, since Tracy Cook retired, I was going to
get my redrived from him now, I am a lost to find replacement model,
since you have a vast wealth of knowledge, maybe you could steer me in
the right direction.
Thanks
Edgar Acosta
BTW this email address is good :)
great site, has a vast wealth good points
So far we have got and delivered Ford Planetary gear sets for people
building thier own.
Neal Ungar in Oz and Chris Hoskins in Nz.
They are not that hard to build. I have lots of companies in
and around Ventura that can do the machine work and tig welding. Since
you need
2 It would be a good idea to build your own. I can help with engineering
if you can handle logistics and finance. Perhaps some one else out there
can join in that needs a gear box.
Here is a suggested design. An improvement on the Ross which
was 10 pounds lighter that Tracy's.
