Here is another that looks like a bargain. Great pusher turbo engine.
The years don't
match the picture. The Turbo II was not built till 89 as I recall.

I have never bought one from ebay so I cannot vouch for anything.

Maybe you should buy the cheapest one you can find and take it
apart to become familiar with it. If you can wait till Sun n Fun there
is always several in the engine work shop tent. In various stages of
disassembly.

I have a 1988 TII in my garage. The build date on the door is 08/87.

Maybe I stand corrected :) I thought the 86 to 88 first turbo was just
called the Turbo while the 89 to 91 was the Turbo II.
If so wikipedia may have it wrong.
There are significant differences as the exhaust manifold on the first
cracked sooner :) It is wise to make a distinction.

They all crack later including the 3rd gen.
It is a simple matter to get in there with a die grinder and radius all sharp
edges. Mazda did not do that as they installed them as machined.
The cracks can also be tig welded up and radius-ed afterward.

What does your exhaust manifold look like ?

1986–1988 Mazda FC3S S4 Turbo RX-7  185 hp (138 kW)
1989–1991 Mazda FC3S S5 Turbo RX-7  200 hp (147 kW)


If the 89-91 was the Turbo II what happened to or what was the Turbo I ? :)
