I heard a rumor that the original Ford Mustang (1964?) intended to
come out fitted with a rotary engine installed.. any truth to this
rumor?

     Thanks, a very interesting article. Probably you know that Norton,
   for their two-rotor, air cooled rotor with a 'plenum chamber' acting
   as an intercooler, found the imaginative arrangement for idle of just
   one of the two rotors receiving charge and actively firing, the other
   acts in only pumping air, this made idle steady, and improved overall
   fuel economy, if it may have any interest for oil cooled rotors, liquid
   cooled housing Mazda style two rotor units is something I can't even
   issue suspicions.
         The David W Garside SAE paper about the development of their
   line of rotaries contains many interesting information regarding
materials,
   fins' production, number, and features, and other things useful if
you consider
   entering the Wankel building hobby. It's $24 in SAE.org store.
