Any of you EE types out there know of a simple single supply DC
inverter amp?

Here is what I am thinking. It is working but not optimized yet. I am
working on a simple hardware solution to using the ignition with
existing EFI computers controlling engines.

Do you want a DC amp or an optoisolated trigger? The opto as you have
drawn will work, many variants are available, but is very nonlinear.
Describe the range of input voltages, permissible current you can draw
from the input, and whether you need only a trigger or something to
follow the voltage.

I need something to follow the voltage but inverted.
Input voltage up output voltage  down.

10 to 15 MA CD4050 on the input.

Output to a CMOS gate.

No trigger needed. Single supply.

If you have a floating output transistor just connect it to the + rail and connect the load res. to common.
