I'm pretty sure you meant "quiet" not "quit".

It's significantly more complex than that. The drawings are available
for review (but not copying) at the archives of the Seattle Museum of
Flight. From the engine there is a piece of regular steel automotive
flex tubing (a J. C. Whitney part number is given) which transitions to
2.5" stainless.  The pipe starts out at 2.5" and has a plain perforated
section around which there is a resonator chamber tuned to one
particular operating frequency (referred to as the resonant silencer.)
From there it runs straight for five feet and then tapers over another
five feet of length from 2.5 to a 2.5x0.5 inch oval at the end (this is
called the dissipative silencer.) The holes are placed in individual
divots which are tilted 30 degrees into the flow of the pipe. The shroud
is lined with fiberglass batt held in place with chicken wire and there
is additional fiberglass on the inside of the fuselage.
