Paul As per today all major cars are built with front drive and
almost built with a wheel bearing hub integrated with double ball
bearing who act as trust in both sides and as been proof since lot of
years..

I found one who can be use to match the prop stubs by machining
those hole stubs between the original wheel stubs and remove the
existing stubs and enlarge them to remove excess weight'.

The wheel flange have to be reduce in diameter to standard prop
shaft size flange.

The attaché triangular flange can be machined to .200" thickness to
reduce weight and all these parts are soft enough to be machined.

The hub can be hold on pressure fit and with 3 long bolts from the
inside aluminum casing and the head seal with orings to hold the oil
pressure inside the gears chamber, or 3 long treaded studs.

The aluminum casing can be machined from solid bar or get it cast
from foundry, it can also be added some ribs for more stiffeness

You can find the wheel hub bearing in Ebay at $40.00 and up depends
on quality.

The both shaft are about $80.00 from Slauson Transmission Parts,all
other parts as sun gear ,planet.ring gear,front ring,drum forward
,bearings less then $200 from Slauson few years ago

I am sending you several sketch showing how to built this gear box
and it might be a few more pounds of Tracy one , much cheaper and
fast to built with almost available parts.

I just finish to extend my garage with a total length of 50 ft and
all my tool are in place,i will have enough space to built the
fuselage plug. I am still building my original gearbox with internal
passage for the constant speed and install a stator. I came up with
the hub idea for someone want to built his own cheap and fast to
built. I do have all steel and aluminum parts for the gear box

We were in south Florida so we visited Jean Prudhomme.

Jean is a very prolific and talented aircraft builder. He has been
working on airplanes since the late 60's. So far he as built nine.
Many Velocities.

Jean, I assume P-1160044 JPG is a photo of an auto transmission 7A
and a reduction housing. We are interested in the reduction housing
for a 3.i7 reduction housing. Do you have a dimensioned sketch of the
reduction housing? And can the housing be purchased separate before
machining?

You can buy the housing from Speedway.com, is a special design but it have 2 side a left and a right which one of the is longer and is the one I do have.

It's already machined for 85 od mm bearing at the inside housing. and along the inside is machined to 3.000" dia.

For my design it is just perfect for 45mm x 85x 19 mm ball bearing sealed in the front and open in the back.

You can use a constant speed propeller by drilling hole in middle of the shaft,

If you machine a prop shaft in one pce you can drill bigger hole and lighter the weight, I will build one with the wheel bearing housing which I take out lot of weight

Later I will send it to Mark Williams Enterprise to have one to be built with my dimensions after
all adjustment been done.

After cleanup the wheel bearing housing  a 45mm id bearing fit perfectly without machining just add pressure fit steel collar from Mark Williams or any Auto Part suppliers.

You can buy the wheel bearing housing from Ebay at $40.00 and keep only the flange and a bit of machining. Bearing from Ebay about $25.00 plus each

My unit will be a couple of pounds   more   then Tracy but I am including a stator and also will us a constant speed MT propeller with feather for the twin

I send a hand sketch to give you and idea by using the wheel bearing housing.

Well  Speedway.com is a Gas Station website, not much help. The housing looks like it could be the pinion input housing from a race differential.  I like what you are doing there, Jean !
