No need for a LSA anymore as the FAA is going to do away with the third class medical for anything 6 place and under.

Could you expand on the FAA intention to do away with the third class medical, it sounds like just what we need here in NZ. We are having a lot of trouble with our outrageous and avaricious CAA (= FAA)they are trying to price us GA pilots out of the market !

Basically there is a push in the US to have the FAA approve allowing a private pilot fly an aircraft 6 places or less and 6,000 lbs or less VFR for non-commercial use with only his drivers license as a medical. Not that the DL has anything to do with a medical, but theoretically if you can drive a 15 passenger van full of people, they figure you can fly. At first the FAA said no, then we started calling our reps in Congress. Now we are closer to getting it done. Hopefully in the near future this obstacle for GA will be over.

But it has been a fight, and it's not over yet.

Thanks for that Kevin, you guys are lucky, you have a written constitution, we don't. Under your constitution you have the RIGHT to fly. In this over regulated country it is considered to be a PRIVILEGE to be ALLOWED to fly for goodness sake. Keep up the good work !
