IMHO QB64 is essential for this kind of work. Its free.
Try it. You will like it. It is a 64 bit version of theold QB
running on DOS for many years.

Easy to program and very powerful.
Gives you a profound insight into what is going on with any
mathematical equation. Can also solve calculas problems better
than calculus as no equation is necessary. For example it can calculate the
area of a randomly shaped boundary.  All you need are the coordinates of
the boundary lines. Studying calculus is now a waste of time IMHO :)
Better to learn to program in QB64.

I wrote a GPS driven moving map program back in 1990 for aircraft in the old QBthat updated every 2 seconds.
