Recently, my Rx7 has started to smoke very excessively, it originally
happened only when it was cold and would go away after a few minutes.
Now it has flip flopped, still smokes when cold but not nearly as
bad. But smokes horrendously (literal smoke-screen) after its been
shut-down while warm. I even got a ticket for defective exhaust the
other day. :-/

It's got over 231k miles on it, original engine..

Seems to me the only recourse is to drop in a rebuilt engine... I
believe the oil control rings are shot.. Suggestions/thoughts? Thx
all.

You are probably right. It happened on my 1976 Cosmo
at about 250,000 miles..

I drove it for years with lots of smoke on start up.
Early Mazda O-ring were neoprene that went away at 200 F.

Here is how to replace them with 500 F Teflon encapsulated
silicon O rings.
