Is a torque meter system really needed?? Mistral engine is not providing such a device.

It is a cheap dyno. Great for checking prop efficiency and a whole bunch of other things
once you know the net HP.

Mistral did a lot of dumb things :-) Not offering a p port among them.
That would have given them a much better power to weight ratio.
I had to straighten them out on the cooling system :)

And if so would be great to share the designs you made, like the double core radiator I suppose...

What's to develop? It is a stock Mazda RX7 engine. They waisted a lot
of time and money developing a fancy side port manifold and barely got 200 HP.
Early installations had cooling problems. The EFI could have been a Mega Squirt
instead they reinvented the EFI wheel.

They tried to hire me but I refused :-). I tried to help them for free but other
than the cooling system they ignored me :)

As I recall the gear box was developed years ago when the company was called
Mecanair. Prior to about 2000. Mecanair had been around for quite awhile
and was started by a Swiss A&P as I recall.

I think this is the same company.

   HISTORY

In the 1970’s, Michel Devaud was chief of research and manufacturing at an engine development company in Switzerland, where he successfully developed a range of car racing engines for the CanAm and F5000 series for teams such as McLaren, Lola, etc.

Being an enthusiastic private pilot, Michel had already built his own aircraft and organized an aviation engine overhaul department in order to overhaul his aircraft engine and those of others.

In 1976, Michel created his own aircraft maintenance and a/c engine overhaul facility : MecanAir SA. MecanAir performs maintenance on a wide range of light aircraft, warbirds and vintage airplanes such as Spitfire, AT-6, Wildcat, Bucker, Tiger Moth, etc. MecanAir holds several STCs for engine/propeller type conversions, as well as for exhaust improvements and noise reduction mods.

Of course Dave Garber and Lou Ross where pioneers in Mazda rotary aircraft
engines in the early 1970's. Mazda engines were dominating road racing
at the time. I bought my first rotary car in 1973. A new RX2. Racing Beat was
started to build engines for road racing in the early 1970's.
