I damaged my hearing years ago when I was going to the can am
road racing events. Thirty 500 to 800 HP cars make a lot of noise.

Then I spent about 2500 hours in my C182 without head sets.

My wife Robin is bugging me to get a hearing aid. The fact
is my brain has tuned her out :-)

Hearing aids sell for thousands of dollars and now a days all they
are is Blue Tooth Ear Buds. These types of hearing aids are rip offs.

The microphone and amplifier can hang
around your neck and transmit the sound via Blue Tooth to the
ear buds. Two for stereo. The advantage is; the mic only picks up
sound in front of you and not the ambient noise from all directions
as the old hearing aids did and some times still do. An improvement for
the future is use a highly directional mic.

I bought a Quikcel stereo Ear Bud for $30 from Fry's. It has a
small mic and it is noise cancelling. No noise cancelling works perfectly
because some times the noise is speech. It works great with
my cell phone fablet. 150 hours of standby battery life.

Now all I need is a low power Blue Tooth amplifier and equaliser
to hang around my neck.  I need an equalizer as most of my hearing
loss is at the higher frequencies.

The larger battery of the chest amplifier  can last a very long time indeed.
