There is the cv Durango wheel axle system adapted to 3.16 Ford planet ratio with aluminum frame and 4 pinions,
back plate welded to cv shaft with 6 of .250"x 1' lg dowel pins
planet hold in place with 4 of 10mm shoulder screws  hardness 41 c rockwell
This the cheapest way with minimum of machining and very strong the cv shaft after grinding is 3.1 lbs, prop flange 3.4 lbs and estimate the back plate about 1.5 lbs
the Durango cv shaft with the wheel flange from EBay less then $100
