Hi!: as discussed, the Toyota SAE paper 790435, T Kohno et al,
claimed a 7% fuel economy improvement in an street car under low load
operation, by substituting a Glow-Plug for the ordinary Spark Pug in
the leading site, and adding a Reed-Valve close to the housing
working surface in a Peripheral Intake Port. The attached patent is
about one of these Glow-Plugs. Any comment?
Thanks, best regards, +salut Jose

It is perfectly legal to screen capture part of SAE papers. With out
the paper I cannot comment.
That attachment is in German. If you get it translated let me know.
Reed valves pay a fuel penalty at the higher HP levels.

Hi Paul!: sorry, I missed that I send an attachment in German, I don't
even
remember which one, if it was a patent, I don't have an English translation,
my level in German is not good enough, and translators charge around $300
for a document of this size, but with a copy and paste in Google translate,
or something like, you can obtain instant, mostly readable translations from
German into English. I attach the Toyota Reed-Valve data, but concerning
the Glow-Plug,
I can't say more than they placed one in the leading plug
hole. I've looking, not very hard, I must admit, for a Glow-Plug already
for sale that is able to work in continuous glow operation for hours, and
not just for starting the engine, as Glow-Plugs in most Diesel engines
probably do; with one of these plugs in hand, it's easy machining a
supplement to be screwed in the leading plug hole in the RCE housing, then
the Glow-Plug screwed in the supplement, as most Glow-Plug images I watched
show an smaller diameter for the glow-plugs than for the ordinary spark
plugs.
Thanks for your kind attention, have a nice season, best
regards, + salut
