Hi Paul, could you send over your CNC machine programs/drawings of
the Rx8 water pump outlet block? I will forward it over to Randy and
get him to machine me one. Build up his arsenal of machined rotary
parts.

Sure will do. I designed an improved version.
Somewhat simpler and a little lighter.

You will need a pressure cap fitting from one of the car racing outfits.
It needs to be tig welded to the top when you tig weld on the 90 degree
pipe bends. It requires a lolly pop cuter to make.

The amount of R&D spent on this device is gigantic. :-)

It clears the P-port slide throttle.

The picture attached, is this the new water block design? I can't tell from Mark's pictures, but does he have an expansion tank or just an overflow tank attached?

Is there a thermostat anymore, or do we just run the coolant system in open loop?

No. That is a weldment. With larger tubes welded on  instead of those small
ones it might work. The water tubes need to be inch and quarter diameter roughly
30 mm to keep the required coolant flow high. 35 MM would be better.
The problem with  weldments  is the required sharp right angle in the flow.

The expansion tank can be anywhere. With a pressure cap welded
on the top RX8 pump adapter block the expansion tank is the top of the block.
In other words the top of the block becomes the expansion tank.

The expansion tank can be anywhere near the top of the cowl.

On the time to climb engine the front part of the block
could become the expansion tank with a pressure release
valve over board. Better than just a small vent hole.

Randy Kempf, did you get the IGES?

As far as the thermostat is concerned it is better to use well sealed  cowl flaps
as they  cut the cooling drag. The cowl flaps cut the cooling drag
2 percent on my C182.  That is 10 cents a gallon reduction in fuel cost
or a 3 MPH increase in speed.  From 150 to 153 MPH.

An old VW air cooled engine thermostat can be used to control
the cowl flaps.
