Hey Paul. I have downloaded everything I can find on the CGcolormax2. I
checked on the gitgizmo website and it says my order still needs to be
processed so probably won't see it till the week after if I am lucky.
I tried running the DOS version that they say in the manual you can use
to write and test programs to see if MMBasic will fill your needs. Well
I spent some time writing a small program to generate some engine gauge
faces and to test the colors and appearance to give some sort of
reference when I run in on the cgmax with it arrives. Well to my dismay
I found out half of the commands do not work in the dos version, nor do
graphics, or special functions, I/O's....hmm just print screen commands
when in DOS.

So I will have to wait and see when my cgmax arrives.
What have you done on the CGMAX? What functions or graphics have you
tested or tried?

I never tried that. As far as I can tell that is not a Geoff Graham
product.

I did not spend any time doing the graphics other than Locate.

This is the authors web site and IMHO it is better than the Gizmo
site. He does list the DOS simulator.

Here is the Quick Basic exe. Play with this as MM BASIC was
patterned after this. Most commands are near the same.
It has somewhat similar graphic commands.

Are you running DOS stand alone or are your running it
in a command window.

If stand alone undo this and run the original QB.

I also have DOS that may boot off a USB. Of course
you will have to go into the set up and set it to boot
off the USB.

I actually have the old Mbasic and Qbasic. I did read somewhere in their literature that it was a derivetive of the orginial Microsoft Basic so I plan on playing with the Mbasic today and seeing if I can get a set up gauges programed and displayed. I know the graphics will not be as good on the CGmax but atleast I can get alot of the programming done.

It has been awhile since I used MBasic. I do recall the QB IDE
was head and shoulders above MBasic. I glomped on to QB as soon
as it came out.  You could develop with the interperture and then
compile for ultimate speed. Running DOS on a recent MoBo is lightening
fast as is QB. Probably two or three times faster as mention in this
rather old pdf.

Here is a PDF for using a quad core mobo for hardware control. It would not surprise me to find out Mach 3 CNC was not done in DOS and QB compiled with something like this. :-) Compared to Windows DOS is a real time
OS.

Got to go work on the time to climb project at the hangar :-).
