Don't forget that a two stroke will pump almost double the air that a
four stroke engine will of the same declared displacement. Also in
that size range for the displacement, the turbo will be quite small.
No where near transport trucks or industrial equipment size and
weight. The center section is one area of mass but the other is the
turbine housing. If it was cast from titanium or made of Inconel
sheet the turbine housing would be much lighter and reducing an 8
pound turbo by 2-3 pounds.

A two stroke rotary will not pump double the air compared to a 4
stroke rotary the only difference is the air/fuel mixture will pass
thru the bearings also since there is not a oiling system, all the
oil is in the fuel.

A four stroke looses volume pumped as it requires one revolution
for the compression and power strokes thus 1/2 displacement per
revolution. Then minus volumetric efficiency. The two stroke fires
every revolution and pumps air each revolution. The engine should
pump double the air that a four stroke does but the volumetric efficiency
is generally lower than four stroke engines so the air pumped more like
3/4 with two revolutions as a four stroke firing all cylinders one time.

Four stroke piston engines. A 4 stroke rotary does in one revolution
what takes a 4 stroke piston engine to do in 2 revolutions.

That is another reason why it generates so much power for it's size.

A 4 stroke rotary is the same as a 2 stroke rotary are the same revolutions.
The difference being one all oil being mixed in the fuel, the 4 stroke have
a oil system to oil the bearings with minute amounts of oil injected into
the intake to keep the apex seals lubricated.

I am thinking of trying the old Gator Super Charger I have been reading about.
The site is long gone and the books can not be found but they took larger turbo
charger shells and compressor rotor, mounted on bearings and beltdrive to make

a inexpensive turbo charger.

Since the small rotary engine I am going to experiment on are old snowmobile
2stroke it would be a pull thru system so the turbo/supercharger will get lubed
and the engine too.

The smallest turbocharger I could find at a decent price are for 2 or 4 small
ATV/Motorcylce 100hp, 13psi boost. I am afraid the small rotary engines will not
produce enough exhaust gas flow to spin them up to do any good.

I am only looking for 2 to 10 psi boost so I will do some more research on the
Gator Super Charger and see how that goes. Also with the super charger there will
be no lag/spin up time either.
