Paul,

Getting closer to making our own rotor housings so I finally had to get
my inner surface corrected to be an actual parallel trochoid surface.
This model has all the math correct including the corrections for angle
of oscillation on the apex seal. Feel free to share this info. Comes
out, my original model based on CMM data was very close.

That is great news  Larry. There are big bucks in rotor housing as Mazda
charges $800 bucks for new rotor housings.

Consider making simplified AL end housing as there is a market for light
weight single rotor engines in OZ, NZ and LSA aircraft in the US.

You don't need oil pumps as external dry sump units will work.
Same goes for side ports as P-port are the way to go for aircraft use.

We also need Ford and Alison based gear boxes. You are in a good
position to supply all the parts needed to make rotary aircraft engines.

Hopefully the aviation economy will pick up after the election.

Here are some pictures taken a few years ago of Larry's NC shop and the
Reno unlimited racer Larry crews on.

Larry happened to have a spare Tracy gear box when Dave Leonard sized his
gear box at Reno. Somebody flew back to Ca and picked it up. We had Dave
Leonard back in the air in 5 or 6  hours.

Nice setup, clean shop, etc.
We need a set of drawings for a 3.12 box, 250 hp, to price it out with
an engine aluminum center plate, automatic bellhousing, etc. Pusher design.

The folks with home  I converse prefer the automatic xtrans bell housing
putting the starter facing forward on the pusher design, to move the CG
forward, etc.

Paul,

Attached is an updated housing that takes out all the remaining error on the inner surface. Max error now is .00028 mm, so way better than we can machine.

I now have the model math down perfect and can do housings using different apex seal radius (that has a big influence on the final shape).

This one is done for a 3mm radius on the apex seal (the Mazda standard). In the “rotor housing shape confirmation” file, I can rotate the shaft, the rotor follows at 1/3 angle and measures the relative motion of the apex seal from it’s nominal position.
