I just found out what a Formula One engine weighs.
145 KG or 319 pounds. The Formula One engine is the zenith of piston
engine technology and cost no object. It is less HP than the time to
climb engine
as the basic engine only puts out 600 HP.
The Formula One engine cost up to 100 million dollars and is 1.5 times
the 200 pound weight of our TTC engine.
You can get a new RX8 engine from your Mazda dealer for less than $10,000.
BTW one can use a generator on the turbo and an electric motor on the
prop shaft for an all electric aircraft turbo compound configuration.
There is an efficiency hit of about 10 to 15% due to the efficiencies of
the generator and motor. Also a weight penalty due to the weight of
these parts. Saves the cost of a turbine gear box however.
I guess this would be a 10 to 20% reduction in fuel burn.
With a turbine gear box it would be more like 30%.

I fully agree.... but where to find a PSRU? I'm a chemist not a

There is one made in Sweden by Rotrex. It based on an old idea from the
late 30's
called a friction or traction drive. Paxton made them for truck super
chargers in the 1930's.
