If you see something that does not look right please let me
 know.

Is that air-filter going to be able to handle the vacuum that
turbo unit is going to generate?

 I think our IO540 has a bigger air-filter, and it isn't
turbo-charged. And it has a lot of metal to keep it from
 collapsing.

Also, you have what looks to me like a 2" or so exhaust from a
 turbo-charger not connected to anything.

You had said something about a compound... are those to feed
 your "compound" driver?

Best I can do just looking at a picture or three.

I wish I were looking at this thing from 3' away....

That is the largest air filter available. No doubt there will be
 some pressure drop.

That 2 inch pipe has a disk in it with a one inch hole in the
 exhaust

 manifold to dump excess pressure.

Nothing compound about this engine. Just a LOT of HP.

Will you be using your multi spark ignition? I will be wanting
one for my single rotor in the future. Andrew Campbell.

Thats on back burner until we get a confirmation on the patent.
Hopefully in April but there is no guarantee. It is the
 Government after all.

We have an MW Aussie ignition on the TTC engine.

Hi Paul, I think Steve is on to something. The Lancair I built
had an intake air bypass which was opened after take off. This
reduced the intake filter pressure drop. Potentially lots of Hp
 there! Ray Tolhurst

That's true. Mooney's had those and they would pick up one or
two inches of manifold pressure. We have something like 60 or 80
inches of manifold pressure to work with. If it is a problem I
will build a bypass after we test it. I used to rent a Mooney from
 time to time.

But, seriously. you need to know what the "CFM" is of that air filter, and what it is that your turbo unit wants/does.

If they are way out of line, it will keep you from n% HP until you open the ram feed.

Regards,
Steve Thompson

My guess is 900 CFM.

The riot act was read to us by Jim M. The prop will kick up a lot of crap. We will install a bypass once it is in the air if it proves to be a problem.

Paul,
Enclose the filter in a carbon fiber housing and ram air feed the box. There are also some really large area flat filter made by K&N for late model high performance cars as well.
