Subject: 13b rear rotor lost compression: good deal or not?

A NA 13B came up on craigslist near me for $100.  Ad said the rear rotor
lost compression.  Wondering if it’s worth taking a look at? I know to
put a wrench on the e-shaft to see if it turns but would like to know
       what else to look for?

       Thanks,

Take an ordinary compression gage and remove the tire valve.

       Remove the bottom plug.

Hold the gage in the the plug hole and turn over the engine.

You should see there pulses in a row.

Second way listen for three puffs in a row at the exhaust ports.

Third way turn the engine over until the apex seal appears in
the exhaust port. The top of the seal should be shiny and move in and
out of the seal slot in the rotor using a screw driver.

If it is crudded up with burnt oil one or more of the seals
       could just be stuck.

At $100.00 it is virtually free. The E shaft is probably OK. The irons may be OK.
Just buy it for the learning experience.

Lynn is absolutely right as always.  Buy it.  Rebuild it.  Best case (and most likely if not used for racing or run without coolant) is that one or more of the seals are stuck.  Worst case the rotor housing is shot but new ones are reasonable and workable used ones are cheap.
